Role Overview

The application support team is accountable for installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining majority of BGRS’s critical business applications. As a senior Application Support Engineer, you will be a Tier 2 support member responsible for project delivery, environment stabilization, incident / request response, process standardization and performance monitoring surrounding in scope applications. This role will provide mentoring and coaching to other Application Support Engineers globally, while helping to lead our adoption of DevOps practices.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining both packaged and internally developed applications across BGRS.
  • Respond to incidents, while solving root cause issues to avoid repeat occurrences
  • Address business requests within their service level agreement
  • Lead application performance monitoring projects and initiatives
  • Required to coordinate activities with team members globally both inside and outside of the Application Support team
  • Provide Tier 2 support to all US Government Applications (US hire only)
  • Provide Tier 2 support to all other BGRS applications and escalate to Tier 3 as required
  • Help improving the team’s processes and technical capabilities
  • Establish best practices for the team and assist the Manager in maintaining standards within the overall environment
  • Plan, setup, configure, and maintain monitoring tools for all BGRS applications as required.
  • Plan, setup and support web applications in a Microsoft IIS 7+ environment.
  • Create and maintain, documentation, including operational, installation documentation and deployment plans.
  • Monitor and resolve application alerts using BGRS’s suite of monitoring tools.
  • Identify, diagnose, determine, and document root cause for application problems
  • Share on-call responsibilities with other team members.

What You Bring to BGRS

  • BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, can be substituted for sufficient work experience.
  • Microsoft MCSE (Server Infrastructure) certification is an asset.
  • 5+ years’ experience deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting technologies built on the Microsoft Windows stack – IIS 7+, MS .NET, SQL Server
  • Experience in the use of XML/XSLT, Web application development, Knowledge of the complete software lifecycle, including an understanding of software test techniques.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement from a people, process, and technology perspective
  • Experience with monitoring tools: SCOM, Solarwinds
  • Understanding the implementation and administration of common TCP/IP-based services: including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SSH, SMTP is an asset.
  • Possess an understanding of SDLC, DevOps, and ITIL Change Management practices.
  • Experience using defect tracking tools to document and process documentation, hardware and software defects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal to no supervision and provide proactive updates to their leadership team.
  • Ability to foster a team environment through transparency and collaboration
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic working environment.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a fastā€paced environment and participate as an independent contributor
